What We Can Eat On Thanksgiving
You have been bustling around in the kitchen all day and it smells delicious! We may have grabbed a crumb or two off the floor but when you start sitting down to the table, we will give you the “Look”. You know which one it is…like this….
How can you resist it? That is what we are counting on. But before you break down and fix us a little something, please keep these tips in mind so we don’t have tummy aches later on.
Let’s start with the turkey. We can have some, but it has to be turkey only - no skin and no bones. And, I hate to say this, everything in only small amounts. It is also safe for us to have a little sweet potato (no marshmallows), some green beans and carrots. And if you want to give us my favorite, a little cheese, that is okay too. But again these are just suggestion of safe foods. Don’t go overboard with it no matter how much we look like this.
Foods that you never want to feed us are onions, garlic, grapes, raisins, mushrooms, alcohol and chocolate. They are toxic to us and you certainly don’t want to take us to the vet on Thanksgiving (and we certainly don’t want to go!)
And after the meal, why don’t we all go for a walk together or play ball outside. Then we will be ready to sit down and enjoy some quality couch time while waiting for leftovers.
Happy Thanksgiving.
