Spread It Out!
Dear Mr. Smart T. Pants:
While I love my humans, they feed me after all, sometimes I just want to be left alone. I hate to think it is because I am getting older, but there are times when I just don’t want to play or be petted. Do you have any advice on a nice way to give my humans a hint that I just want some alone time?
Bella
Dear Bella:
Everyone needs some alone time so you should not feel bad about giving your humans a hint.
One way that is very effective is to be shall we say a “bed hog”. Be sure to sit or lay right in the middle of the bed, sofa or chair. For example, dogs, when they sleep in their own bed, often curl up into a little ball. But when they are in a human’s bed, they stretch right out to their full length. Do you think that is by accident? No way! So spread out girlfriend. Take the entire bed, sofa or chair and don’t let anyone try to squeeze in next to you.
The humans will get the hint and you will get some quality alone time.
