We Live In The Moment
Dear Mr. Smart T. Pants:
I am so confused. My humans left me alone and I missed them a lot. So I looked for something to do to pass the time until they came back. The dresser in the bedroom looked kind of yummy so I just took a little nibble out of it. Then I took another and another. It made me feel a lot better. But then this happened. My humans came home and I was so happy to see them. But they started yelling at me and pointing to that dresser. They kept calling me a bad dog. I don’t understand why. Do you?
Confused in Wilmington
Dear Confused:
Nice work on the dresser. However humans do not like it when you chew their things. But what humans don’t understand is that we live for the moment. Dogs relate to the bad dog comment as to what we are doing right then and there, not what we did earlier that afternoon. So I can understand why you are so confused. If they want to stop you from chewing on the dresser, they have to tell you right when you are doing it, not when you have completed the job.
Communication with humans is sometimes tough - that is why I am here to help. Oh and next time you feel stressed when your humans leave, chose one of your toys to chew or take a nap. They will be back in no time.
Hang in There,
Mr. Smart T. Pants
